PASTOR BOB CAVE
January 2012

Oanuary 1, 2012-Today is the First Sunday and the first day of 2012- According to the Mayan’s this is “The end of the world as we know it!” What a great way to start off 2012- The end of the world! Oh Happy Day!

One thing is for sure, we have all made some kind of mistake in 2011. We all need a Tabula Rosa…a clean slate.

So I guess it’s good to be able to start over, afresh. Students will be back in school. Young people have headed back off to college. And most of us have recovered from the holiday season and are well into doing our jobs and the activities of the new year.

What do you anticipate for this year?
Are you full of enthusiasm, looking forward eagerly to what each day will bring? Or are you filled with dread, worried that 2012 will be worse than 2011 for you?

The Apostle Paul was never one to let circumstances conquer him. Rather, with the help of God, he was determined to win the victor’s crown.

I wanted to end the year with this verse and start the new year with this verse. Listen as his attitude, dedication, and determination shine through in these words found in Philippians 3:12-14.

"I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

No matter what 2012 brings us, we learned last week that the most significant thing that has ever come to the earth was the Advent of the Christ. He came…he is here…come what may, we have decided to follow Him and follow Him we will…come what may… tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, famine, always followed by the beloved pestilence…whatever circumstance we encounter, He is here!
Fantastic!

Happy New Year,
Pastor Bob
